Travel Style : Shoes To Keep You Walking - Trainers

"Good shoes take you good places". Personally I find this quote so true. Good shoes keep you comfortable and mean you can carry on walking, keep seeing that new sights, exploring, adventuring.  Everyone has a different perspective on what they want out of a shoe for travel but a simple staple is always going to be trainers.

5 of Melbourne's Quirky Hidden City Bars

Melbourne is the land of laneways, so it makes sense that some of the best and quirky little bars in the city are hidden down them too. Boasting little to no signage but great word of mouth. So whether you are looking for a rooftop, a laneway or a hidden cellar there is always something for everyone. Here is a guide to some of my favourites I quite literally stumbled across...

Australia is a huge country, it can fit into Europe or North America on a map, with so much choice or where to go and what to see. But what if you want to settle somewhere for a little while? Australia's state capitals are always a good starting point and with each one being so varied from the next how do you know which one is best for you? Today I am breaking down my experience of 5 of the big cities to get you an idea of which is best for your lifestyle.

Australia : See You Soon

687 days. That's how long it has been. 687 days since I changed my life. Since I boarded that first flight bound for uncertainty, for a life that I had never know. For life. That's what Australia gave me, life, or at least a new perspective on it. I never knew when I boarded that first flight how much one person could change in such a small amount of time, but I did. I can barely believe my time here is over however a new adventure calls.

Derbyshire - Chatsworth House

Chatsworth House has to be, by far, one of my favourite places in Derbyshire. The grandeur, the expansive grounds, the events they hold. As a child my parents would take my sister and I up to play on the adventure playground and see the farm yard animals after a walk through the house. For me, it's history and mine, like many others I imagine, are intertwined.

Reflections : June '16

Hello there, what a couple of months it has been! I have been living life to the fullest this and getting in some well deserved adventuring in before my big relocation. I haven't spoken much on my blog, Facebook or Instagram on what I plan on doing over the next few months but it is going to be pretty awesome. I'm currently trying to find motivation to sit down and write my last two months of wandering around into blogposts but somehow finding the time seems to be escaping me.

The Reluctant Wanderlust Turns Two.

In life it is great to celebrate the little things. Today I guess would be one of those days as it is two years since I pressed publish on its first ever post a while I may not have always been consistent with my writing, my thoughts have never been far from sharing my adventures with the world in a hope to inspire more people to take to the road and change their lives.

Tasmania - Hobart

Landing in the state capital of Hobart last week was a bit of a chilly departure from my prior adventure in Cairns. If you have been wandering with me over on Instagram you will have seen the shock change there. Landing on a day when the  mountain had snow covered tops, winter was truly setting in but honestly, the chill was a wonderful change as it meant I got to pull out the woolly jumpers and hats.

Noosa - Learn to Surf

One of the many items on any travellers Australian bucket list is a surf lesson, I was no exception. So when I got the time and opportunity in Noosa I booked myself into a morning session at 'Learn to Surf'. Founded by an ex champion surfer and teaching for over 20 years the company has steadily grown.

Noosa - Sunset River Cruise

On recommendation from my friend we took a sunset cruise around the Noosa river. Picking up at Noosaville Jetty and The Sheraton in Noosa Heads the cruise takes 90 minutes with some time pre sunset and post sunset floating happily along the Noosa River and some of her inlets.

Sydney - Blue Mountains

I have wanted to see the blue mountains since discovering them, though I do feel that about a lot of places I uncover in my research hours, so getting to head out and see them with my friend Kay last month was a lovely day out. Even if the start was incredibly early. I chose a day tour for our trip, mainly due to the lack of time we had in which to see everything in Sydney and honestly was happy not to drive on this occasion.

Sydney Coffee - The Grounds of Alexandria

Oh The Grounds... I had been, how shall I put it, stalking the cafe on Instagram for quite a while before my visit so I was more than a touch excited to go. I was not disappointed. I'm not sure what I was expecting exactly, a large cafe with a bit of an outdoor area and lots of plants maybe? What I got was an Alice in Wonderland, down the rabbit hole, feast for the eyes - and soul.

Melbourne - Old Melbourne Goal Ghost Tour

I am the first to admit I have a very, very overactive imagination and that ghost tours really aren't my thing but after attending my first ever ghost tour in Sydney I figured another wouldn't hurt. After our visit to the Old Melbourne Gaol during the day we decided to go and see what it was like after hours for a ghost tour. There are 3 to choose between but with the limited time Kay had left in Melbourne we chose to just pot luck it on the Tuesday night.

Reflections - April 2016

It is always the hardest thing, for me, thinking of how to start writing my posts. I suppose that is why recently i haven't been writing any. It becomes a battle of where to begin but at least today my story is happier than my last in this series.

Sydney - Hunter Valley

I'm not a wine connoisseur but doing a wine tour in Australia has been reasonably high on my list of things to do while I am still here and with my friend visiting for her birthday, and having a love of wine and cheese, I figured going on a tour for her birthday would be a nice treat for us both. Even if i did book it on the wrong day.

Flight Etiquette - Is it ok to ask...?

Inspired to write this post on my flight back to Melbourne from Brisbane after sitting in my low cost airline seat with the gentleman behinds knees in my back for nearly an hour before plucking up the courage to ask him to move his knees after debating for 10 minutes if it would be rude of me to ask I thought maybe I we should start a conversation on what we all think is acceptable on flights?

Melbourne - St Kilda Festival

Sunday the 14th of February was probably a day on a lot of peoples minds. All the things the would do and places they would be going, food they would be eating and atmosphere around them.  It was on my mind too. Valentines Day afternoon was spent wandering St Kilda with one of my best Melbourne girls at St Kilda Festival.

Carlton North, Melbourne

On Saturday I joined the IgersMelbourne Group for a wander around Carlton North and a Naughty Boy Cafe InstaShake. I had been looking forward to going to a meet up since I came to Melbourne nearly a year ago now. It was wonderful to meet a new group of photographers and wander the streets in search of shots to suit our tastes.

Reflections :: Feb '16

Hello there, long time no see. I realise I had planned to write my reflection posts monthly and I feel like I should be in a confessional as it has been 6 months since my last Reflection but sometimes it is hard to know what to write when you don't know where to start. So this is me, starting.

As I look at bringing TRW into a new lease of life 'Reflections' will become a bit more like a 'Letter from the Editor' or "Behind the Scenes' into my life. I'm not great about writing about myself, heck I barely like having my photo taken but I realise that in the modern age of blogging injecting more "me" into posts is what readers expect and it is then another chance for me to step out of my comfort zone, so I hope you will be patient with me while I do this.

Melbourne - Happy 2016

2016 is here! Happy New Year wanderlusters, I hope yours is filled with joy, laughter and adventures.  This new years was a bit of an action packed one for me and while it gave it made a proper start to the new year it also ended for me with a bit of drama which I wasn't expecting. To paraphrase my friend Sean, "at least 2016 started with a bang".

The new year was brought in with friends and fun in Melbournes Docklands watching the fireworks go off across the city, lighting up the sky from every angle, it was incredible to watch. Such a surreal moment but so real at the same time. Have you ever felt like that?

I've been trying to decide on New Years Resolutions but as usual I can't quite finalise them so I will do what I normally do and decide on them at the end of January but for today I want to wish you a Happy New Year and ask "What are your New Year Resolutions?"
